I never get tired of painting these views in Shenandoah National Park. The shapes interlock almost like a jigsaw puzzle which is what made me think of the title. It all works together. The land, the vegetation, the animals and the people are sustained and enriched by the earth in a magnificently designed system.

I grew up exploring the outdoors here in Southwest Virginia. My family would often go for long drives and end up hiking in the woods where my parents would identify plants and trees and point out animal tracks as they taught us to appreciate the awesomeness of God's creation. I can still remember the first time I saw a pink "Ladies Slipper" growing up out of a pile of leaves deep in a forest. Those adventures with my family still inspire my landscape paintings today but I'm also blessed with a group of friends who love to paint outdoors.
